Schmeckt dir das Essen?

(Tastes to you the food?)

Is the food tasty to you?

 

Das Essen schmeckt mir nicht.

(The food tastes to me not.)

The food is not tasty to me.

 

Wie hat dir das Essen geschmeckt?

(How has to you the food tasted?)

How tasty was the food?

 

Das Essen hat mir gut geschmeckt.

(The food has to me good tasted.)

The food tasted good.

 

Das Essen hat mir nicht geschmeckt, weil es zu salzig war.

(The food has to me not tasted, because it too salty was.)

The food was not tasty because it was too salty.

 

Der Salat hat mir nicht geschmeckt, weil er nicht frisch war.

(The salad has to me not tasted, because he not fresh was.)

The salad was not tasty because it was not fresh.
