Here’s a complete interview I did with her so you can learn from her journey going through my program.

Let’s jump right into it.

Migle,

What did you try before starting with my program “From Zero to C1”?

I have tried 2 traditional language schools in Lucerne and in Zurich, however the learning pace was too slow as I wanted to improve my language skills faster.

What was your biggest challenge you faced with learning German?

To find extra time after a long day at work and other hobbies (piano, dance etc.)

What kind of program were you looking for?

A program that provides a fast learning process.

What was your goal when you started?

To learn German fast and to pass an official Exam for my Swiss citizenship.

What struck you the most the first time you came across my program?

How great the program was structured and an incredible amount of material for listening, reading, grammar and speaking.

What was the big difference between my program and the way you learned German before?

Learning with this program means learning while having fun with the German language and that’s something traditional methods fail to provide since these tend to be boring.

What are some of the results you’ve achieved so far going through my program?

I’ve learned grammar rules and new vocabulary required to become more fluent in German. I have also improved my speaking skills a lot. It’s amazing how I became confident to speak German in work meetings, write emails, read newspapers and speak in daily life.

How did you prepare for your B1 exam?

I didn’t have a lot of free time therefore I tried to optimize my preparation as much as possible while having fun with the German language. I attended the „Prepare for your official exam“ coaching calls where I could practice speaking, writing, had great advice from Manuel but also learned from other students. I only needed to go through several examples of the B1 exam (Manuel provided the website with the examples).

How long did it take to prepare for your B1 exam?

Approx. a few months since I was already familiar with the structure from the “From Zero to C1” program.

What was the most difficult part in the exam?

I would say the listening part.

Which specific resources helped you the most along the way?

All podcasts like key learning, key vocabulary and fluency tests.. These resources optimize the learning time and are also fun to learn with.

How did you stay focused and motivated through the program?

It was not always easy to make extra time but Manuel was always very encouraging and motivating.. for example, he gave great tips such as the Pomodoro technique and tips on how learning should become a habit, how listening doesn’t require extra time, etc.. these tips were very motivating and helpful.. for example, I was listening to the podcasts with other students while going on a walk and therefore learned German while exercising and improving my health.

What did a typical daily learning routine look like?

I was focusing on the below learning techniques:

  • listening to recordings while exercising
  • listening to fluency tests while having breakfast
  • Memrise vocab exercises after work

How much time did you spend daily on average for your learning?

Maybe 1 – 2 h.

What did you emphasize the most when learning?

I tried to optimize learning time and just trust and follow the steps in the program.

What was your biggest obstacle and how did you overcome it?

Finding extra time to learn but great tips and discipline helped.

What was the most important thing that helped you become more fluent in speaking?

Listening to the podcasts with other students.

What helped you the most to overcome the fear of speaking to others?

German native speakers are always very kind and friendly and never say anything negative; this encourages to speak. Whenever I’ve learned a new word or a grammar structure, I was happy to show what I’ve learned in the lessons and to use it in daily life.

What’s one piece of advice you would give to someone who wants to learn German but finds it hard to find the time due to his/her busy life?

Start learning at your own pace and you will be surprised how the learning time can be optimized and included into your daily routine. It will take much less time than you think 😊
